Psalm 85

psalm85

This weekend we went to Mackinaw Island and were able to partake in the beauty of God’s creation. The views were stunning, the history fascinating and the day was beautiful.  Wherever we wandered, It was evident that God had a hand in this place.  His handiwork was seen in the blueness of the water the placement of rocks and trees and in the birds that made there home on this magnificent Island.

Surely his salvation is near those who fear him,
that his glory may dwell in our land.

This verse reminded me of the island. His glory could be seen everywhere that my eyes could see.  The beauty almost too much to take in!  Looking more closely at the passage I was challenged by the message that it contained.

I will listen to what God the Lord says;
he promises peace to his people, his faithful servants—
but let them not turn to folly.
Surely his salvation is near those who fear him,
that his glory may dwell in our land. Psalm 85:8-9

He promises Peace

Peace- (shalowm) is completeness, soundness, welfare, peace, quiet, tranquility, contentment

I don’t know about you but I crave this!

To his faithful servants

Faithful-(chaciyd)  faithful, kind, godly, holy one, saint, pious

Would He say that I am faithful?

but let them not turn to folly

Folly- (kiclah)  trust; in a bad one, silliness:—confidence, folly.

Oh the things that are are truly not worth my focus and attention.  What must I remove from my days?

That his glory may dwell in our land

Glory- (kabowd) honor, glorious, abundance, splendor, dignity, reputation, reverence

Lord help us look to you and think about your promise of peace when we are faithful to you. Give us the power to turn away from the things that are not part of your plan and instead see your glory and splendor fill our land.
